Dr. Denis Atkinson obtained his undergraduate degree in Neuroscience with a minor in political science from Texas Christian University, Fort Worth, Texas in 1986. He attended Medical School at Texas A&M College of Medicine, Temple, Texas in 1990. He competed an internship in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Scott and White Memorial Hospital in Temple, Texas in 1991. In 1994, he completed his neurology residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, Tennessee. At The Bowman Gray School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, North Carolina in 1993 he did a mini fellowship in Transcranial and Carotid Doppler Imaging. Continuing his education, Dr. Atkinson completed an Epilepsy and Neurophysiology Fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee before going on to do his Diagnostic Radiology Residency at Boston Medical Center, Boston, Massachusetts. He attended a Neuroradiology Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts and completed it in 2003.He has worked in prominent Neuroradiology Departments over the years and most recently had a private practice in Warner Robins, Georgia. He comes to SGRA with a wealth of knowledge in radiology.
