Arthrography

Arthrography is a fluoroscopic procedure that uses x-ray technology to examine the structure and function of the joint. The procedure involves injecting a contrast material into the area around the joint, which enables the area to be seen more clearly in the x-ray images.

An arthrography exam can be used in the detection and diagnosis of problems with areas such as the knee, shoulder, hip, wrist and ankle. The exam also helps physicians determine appropriate treatment, such as a surgery or joint replacement.
